Pippa Small, the award-winning British designer, has a long association with Afghanistan, which includes her line of jewellery for the Kabul-based Turquoise Mountain Foundation, for which she uses the country's incredible selection of natural stones.

At her annual pre-Christmas event at her Notting Hill shop, she mixed her international collection with a selection of items hand-picked from her travels around the world. And, exquisitely displayed, if I say so myself, was a stack of Dispatches from the Kabul Cafe. A perfect stocking stuffer and accompaniment to the treasure trove of other possible precious presents.
